newsletter for winter 2010
hey everyone,
as 2010 comes to a close, i hope that you are all having a jolly end of year and had an amazing 2010, overall.
with every passing year, i am especially grateful for you, all the new and continuing support of patrons, collectors and friends in general. just some things to wrap up and announce:
i must have mentioned it before, but this year i’ve been blessed with so many opportunities of travel- in april, i got to go to japan with a good friend of mine, a trip to montreal in the summer- and very recently a short trip to los angeles and other parts of southern california. all were very inspiring- and you can find some record of my travels specifically, at my flickr.
this month, narwhal art projects has been so kind to ask me to have a piece in their the unicorn show- a show of art toys for the holiday season. i am making a sculpture and will be at the opening. if you’re in toronto, please come by december 10th and say hi.
if i don’t catch you then, down the street, magic pony will be having me as a guest artist at their DIY toy workshop on december 13th and 14th. should be lots of fun- come and join us if you can.
i’ve also been honoured with the invitation to contribute to the hands of hope art auction 2010 on december 15th. this will take place at koerner hall at the royal conservatory of music in toronto and is presented by the nelson mandela children’s fund canada.
in october i started doing daily posts of drawings, collages and studio ephemera- it has been a success for me so far and you’ve all been very gracious with your responses. thanks for continuing to check in and for all your kind words and enthusiasm. the pieces are now available for $50-100 each. these will not be in the shop, but if there is one or two in particular that move you, please be sure to let me know and i will set it aside for you.
on a similar note, if you’re looking for some last minute gift ideas or are looking for a small treat for yourself- the shop is stocked with some new zines, (very few left) and some various other new things. there are some holiday specials, so make sure you have a good browse through everything.
fall to fall has been on the steady. hope you enjoy looking as much as i do sharing.
finally, there is a facebook page with my name on it. many of you are already “liking” it- and for that, a billion thanks. but just in case you didn’t know about it, you can find it here. if you know friends or family that might be into my work, news or recent activities, please be so kind to let them know. this page will continue to have some exclusive content just as a “thanks again”.
for as many years as i’ve been in toronto, i never get used to how cold it gets every winter. it’s a bittersweet feeling- as it makes me cringe and feel alive at the same time. hope that if it’s cold where you are, that you’re staying warm- and if it’s warm where you are, stay cool ☺.
merry christmas and happy new year, happy hanukkah, kwanzaa and festivus. hope yule eat plenty and see your loved ones! see you in 2011.
best,
t
